Follow Our Technique To Find Lower Rates

For some reason, my car insurance company never seems to call offering a lower rate. Yet statistics show that for my state, actual premiums paid per policy declined in the past couple of years. So, how do you get affordable car insurance in today's environment?

Use the internet and shop around. You will find it. Take a look at all of the ads you are exposed to suggesting that you can save money by getting car insurance online. They aren't kidding or else people would be keeping their current policies and the ads wouldn't be cost effective. However, using the internet to find affordable insurance requires a small amount of time (about 30 mins.), a little common sense, and a good guide. We can't provide you with the first two, but if you follow the advice below, you will probably be one of the ones who find cheap auto insurance online.

Essentially this technique consists of educating yourself about alternatives, then asking successive companies to beat your previously quoted rate. Here's how it works:

First, submit your information to insurance.com. Its a large, secure, and respected online agency representing many of the larger carriers. At the end of the process, you will see four or five quotes on your screen from top companies like progressive, AIG, Safeco and more. This is an excellent starting point, and might even be where you end up with the lowest rate.

Second, go to esurance and get a quote there as well. They typically have among the most affordable rates you will find anywhere. What we are trying to do in this step is to set a bar for the rest of the companies to have to clear. Even if you don't want esurance to be your car insurance company... you need their quote to help you get a lower rate from the one that will be.

Third, go to hometownquotes.com and submit to their network of over fourteen hundred agents nationwide. You will get four or five responses and have an opportunity to converse with the selected agents by email or phone. You might find the lowest rate here from the start, but even if you don't when you reply to an agent's email, you can point out to your lowest rate from the previous steps and ask that they beat it. They will work hard to do it and often will succeed. Plus, chances are you will end up with an agent you can actually call or visit in your neighborhood when you need to service your policy.

So, if you are looking for affordable auto insurance, it's really not that difficult. Find the half hour you need, put on your common-sense hat, and follow the steps above to arrive at a lower rate.
